“Do you want another kid?”

Roy blinked, and turned to look at his husband who was sitting at the kitchen table staring into the mug containing his coffee, holding onto it like a life-line.

“Excuse me?” Because Roy wanted to make sure that he had heard right.

Dick tightened his hold on the mug, if that were possible and looked up into the green eyes of his lover.

“I mean, Lian’s twelve now and she has been asking for a younger sibling for awhile, and I just thought…” He paused seeming unsure of himself, and Roy hadn’t seen Dick this insecure since they had first gotten back together all those years ago. “We do have a larger house with a couple of spare bedrooms and…I’ve always wanted to adopt.”

Roy stared at his husband, drinking in all of those emotions pouring from his blue eyes and he couldn’t stop himself from striding forward and sealing his lips against Dick’s in a breathtaking kiss.

“I think that this is the best idea that you’ve ever had.”

All of Dick’s unease washed away and that familiar Robin smile lit his face. “So you want to?”

Roy nodded, already getting excited and planning on where their new addition would be staying.

“Lian’s going to be happy.” Roy commented lightly imagining the reaction his little girl, who was already growing up too fast, would give.

“I would presume that she’s going to insist we get her a baby sister.” Dick looked at him coyly though Roy nodded in agreement. “I see no problem with that.”

Roy arched an eyebrow. “I thought you always wanted a son.”

Dick turned his head towards the window with a small smile on his face. “After seeing what a little boy can do, especially Cass’s little boy I think it will be safer if we go with another girl.”

Roy laughed and pulled Dick against him, silently agreeing. “But Jamie is Jason’s son, I don’t think any other child could be as much as a terror as him.”

Whatever Dick was going to say was interrupted when they heard the front door open and close and the sound of Lian’s voice drifted up from the hall.

They shared a look and they both knew that they had so much more to talk about before they told their daughter, but in the mean time they could imagine and dream of two girls running through the halls bringing twice as much laughter and light through the house.
